Unthankfulness lures us into spiritual silence because it takes us away from God.
The Bible says, “Although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened” (Romans 1:21).
When our life honors God and we live in constant thankfulness to Him — the light of His presence enables our spirit and soul to internalize the wisdom of His Word.

In fact, the more thankful we are, the more often His spirit speaks to us, even through our experiences in creation or interactions with other people.
But when we live unthankfully — we become fools, stumbling through the spiritual silence of darkness.
What does it mean to live “unthankful” to God?
We aren’t talking about simply a failure to thank Him for our food or other physical blessings.
Rather, our entire life should be lived with a thankful heart for the freedom that Christ purchased for us.
What we say, where we go, who we choose as friends, what we choose to put in our minds, our goals, our choice of career — everything is an offering of thankfulness and praise back to our generous God who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.
To live thankfully is to live free.
We were created for God’s glory.
When we realize that both our physical and spiritual life are gifts from God, we become enlightened by the wisdom of God’s Spirit and desire that our life be a gift for His glory, rather than living chained by our desires.
Jesus said, “Everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin … If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:34b, 36).
Unthankfulness begins in the heart and draws its victim into a downward spiral into the slum of unrighteousness (Romans 1:21-32).
Don’t let your thoughts steal your freedom!
When we are thankful, our life becomes an offering to God — and our heart is free to live in the destiny God planned before we were born.
We walk in the footsteps of greatness — because we become like Christ who gave us “Freedom’s Dream.”
