Over the last couple of years, I have written several articles (for which I am grateful to OpsLens for publishing) about the tactics and strategies President Trump routinely falls back on. It is no surprise that he is doing it yet again. After all, when something is successful, why change?
Now, I can’t say that for his opponents…as they go down the same old path that continues to fail. They have not learned to adapt. They have not learned from their mistakes, and there is no indication they will now.
What the Democrats are doing is giving the Trump administration an opening/opportunity to exploit…and exploit he has. So let us look at the tried and true approach Trump takes to just about everything. Much of this is his personality. He relies on his gut feeling more than the” typical” politician, and that in itself drives them nuts.
Start receiving the latest news from American patriot and former Navy SEAL Carl Higbie.
With the NATO payment for protection issues, Trump pushed hard and not so subtly threatened that there would be repercussions for NATO not stepping up to the plate. Other American presidents would not have dreamed of taking this approach. It is not polite, not diplomatic. They did what they always did: talk little and move to the next thing. The success was Trump’s brinkmanship, something I have written about before.
North Korea? Brinkmanship.
Mexico and the immigration crisis? Brinkmanship.
China trade deals and tariffs? Brinkmanship.
So why does it surprise the Democrats when Trump responds to them with, wait for it…brinkmanship.
The Democrats are giving him such ammunition to use. He has changed this entire impeachment discussion. The Democrats are hurtling down the impeachment track to his advantage. The Democrats have all but destroyed their best hope —Biden— by allowing Trump to turn the focus on him. And then there is the gift that keeps on giving: Schiff. Rep. Adam Schiff (CA) has been a constant easy target for Trump. With credibility issue after issue, even the mainstream press is starting to ask questions.
They have allowed Trump to frame the narrative. He can and does point to their obsession with removing him at the expense of the country, their voters, and their duty. Trump has successfully controlled the discussion, and the Dems can’t see it.
Trump has tagged the Democratic Party as the party of AOC and the Squad, Socialists, Do-Nothing. And their poster child (well, one of ’em) is lying Adam Schiff.
Yes, the Democrat impeachment parade that sees the light at the end of the tunnel as the removal of the president will realize that light is the Trump train headed straight for them. In my opinion, it is going to be a disaster for the Democratic Party.
To top it off, Trump is calling them out in public. He has written a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that in no uncertain terms is a “ Put up or Shut up” ultimatum. Yes, brinkmanship at its pinnacle.
When it comes to impeachment, I can hear the president telling Adam Schiff with the line so eloquently delivered by non other than Clint Eastwood: “You’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?”
