Former President Jimmy Carter, who is 95, was hospitalized for a procedure to reduce pressure on his brain, many news outlets reported late on Monday.
Carter was admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, Fox News reported.
He had an operation scheduled for Tuesday morning, according to a statement from The Carter Center.
The pressure on his brain has been caused by bleeding “due to his recent falls,” the statement said.
“President Carter is resting comfortably, and his wife, Rosalynn, is with him,” the statement concluded.
