Jimmy Kimmel Pokes Fun at Joe Biden for Being a ‘Very Old Person’

Comedian used the former vice president's most recent remarks on pot to take on the Democrat during his late-night monologue

The 2020 presidential election is about a year away at this point — but you’d think it was next week given the hyper-focus from so many corners of our culture.

Every statement that potential candidates utter, every move they make, is parsed, poked at, perused, pontificated about, and reviewed endlessly through mostly partisan lenses — such is the world we live in right now.

The late-night comedy clan is no exception.

That group mostly has gone after President Donald Trump for the past three-plus years — but almost no one is exempt these days.

Check out some of the most recent statements from Jimmy Kimmel, for example, on his late-night show from Monday night — as he took on former Vice President Joe Biden, one of the leading 2020 Democratic candidates.

Kimmel went after Biden for his stance on pot.

“Meanwhile, on the Democratic side of things, Joe Biden’s doing everything he can to remind us that he is a very old person,” said Kimmel.

“Joe Biden says that if elected, he will not legalize marijuana federally because he thinks it might be a gateway drug.”

“That’s correct. It is a gateway drug to not getting the Democratic nomination for president,” added the comedian to audience applause.

“But the idea that we need to do more study on this … They’ve already done a study, like for the last 80 years,” said Kimmel — and then he jokingly referenced entertainers Willie Nelson and Snoop Dog as walking monuments to the nation’s ongoing “study” on pot use.
