Ilhan Omar has tough challenge in her home district, primary victory isn’t guaranteed

So far, the Squad is undefeated. Also, the president outraised Biden in July.

Next Tuesday August 11th voters will go to the primary polls in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District and choose a Democrat to represent them in Congress. Yes, it’s only a primary. But as in so many deep red or blue seats, whoever wins the primary wins the general with ease. And although her opponent is better funded and is giving her a good challenge, sadly Ilhan Omar will probably win her Minnesota 5th primary.

“She has been ineffective in Washington because she is divisive, and she’s focused on her celebrity,” her challenger Antone Melton-Meaux told the press.

Omar responded, “I show up not only in the district, but in Congress to fight for us, for our progressive values, and that is the consistency in which I do my work.” As per claims she funnels cash to her husband? She weakly claimed, “I don’t pay my husband. I pay the firm to do work and that [$600,000] really is an example of that work. It was the first time we placed a TV ad, which is surprising to me because that’s not something we’re used to in the 5th, and that money went to place that ad and to make sure we have digital ads, to make sure we have literature that’s being sent to our constituents, because it is get-out-the-vote efforts for us.”

The local paper doesn’t buy her line and endorsed her opponent, “Whether it’s health care, criminal justice or affordable housing, Melton-Meaux appears progressive, but pragmatic,” the editorial board of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune said. “While Omar wants to lead a movement, Melton-Meaux seeks to serve the Fifth District…It is just these kinds of ethical distractions (husband payoff) that the Fifth District could do without. In the Editorial Board interview, Omar took little responsibility for her rocky start, instead largely blaming her critics and saying her failing was perhaps in not realizing what a ‘special unicorn’ she would be in Congress.” Wow. “Special unicorn?” This chick is a stone cold lunatic.

AOC could not help but chime in, “So when we’re the ones that are attracting multimillion-dollar primary challengers in an unprecedented way, that just tells you how effective Ilhan is…That tells you how damn effective she is against big real estate, against our military-industrial complex, against our Wall Street complex, against basically every corrupt institution that we have right now in this country. And they’re coming for each and every one of us.” The woman sounds like a 1967 propaganda broadcast from Radio Tirana.

In other political news, Trump’s campaign, the Republican National Committee (RNC), and their joint committees brought in $165 million in July. They now sport more than $300 million cash on hand. Joe Biden’s campaign reported it, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and their joint committees combined collected $140 million in lucre last month. Trump and the RNC win again.

Trump campaign chief Bill Stepien commented, “The enthusiasm behind President Trump’s re-election continues to grow as July’s massive fundraising totals prove. Voters express their support for President Trump in many different ways and donating to his campaign is one of the most personal, because they feel invested in his successes and the future success of the country.”
