Democrats Expand Infrastructure Definition To Ridiculous Lengths

To them, everything is infrastructure.

The upcoming Democrat infrastructure bill is a grab bag of leftist goodies and a wish list of watermelon communist (green on the outside, red on the inside) boondoggles. The Democrats know they may lose Congress in 2022, so they want to stuff all they can into this bill now, while they have the votes. Thus they expand the definition of infrastructure to absurd lengths to ensure anything they want is defined as infrastructure.

Packing the court? Infrastructure. Green inanities? You guessed it. Paid childcare leave? Uh huh, still infrastructure. Climate silliness? The I word. Anti-police legislation? Yup, infrastructure. Is there anything in the bill for roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, airports, train stations, and all the rest of real infrastructure? About 10 percent. The rest is just Christmas morning for the hard left of the Democrat Party. That is, if they believed in God.

FNC: “Over the past several weeks, prominent Democrats in Washington have claimed that items ranging from caregiving, to climate action, to the Everglades ecosystem in South Florida are all examples of infrastructure. President Biden said at a recent press conference that computer chips are infrastructure, telling reporters ‘chips, like the one I have here — these chips, these wafers, are batteries, broadband; it’s all infrastructure. This is infrastructure.’ Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., proclaimed on Twitter last week that ‘climate action is infrastructure,’ arguing in a Washington Post op-ed that ‘a true infrastructure plan’ will deliver ‘climate justice’ and should include key elements of the Green New Deal.” But, of course with Democrats, it doesn’t stop there.

Rep. Marilyn Strickland, D-WA, said “affordable housing is infrastructure.” Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, the second most senior state Democrat in Wisconsin, said “police accountability is infrastructure.” You knew that was coming. Rep. Mondaire Jones, D-NY, said on Wednesday that “Supreme Court expansion is infrastructure.” Some said he was joking. That is unlikely because Democrats do not have a sense of humor, Stalinists rarely do, and the underlying premise, if it was a joke, exposes the Democrat plan.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said “Paid leave is infrastructure. Child care is infrastructure. Caregiving is infrastructure.” Yup, the entire kitchen sink.

She told press, “we define… infrastructure as what’s necessary to get the economy moving. And if you don’t have access to day care, universal pre-K, affordable day care, or a national paid leave plan, it’s going to be really hard to get families back to work.” Notice the “we.” Not the actual definition, the Democrat definition.

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told media last month that Biden’s bill is “like a Trojan horse… it’s called infrastructure, but inside the Trojan horse it’s going to be more borrowed money and massive tax increases on all the productive parts of our economy.” He’s got it nailed.
