On Thursday morning’s episode of “The View,” Meghan McCain went off on Democrats for the racist attacks that were hurled at Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) after he delivered the rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s speech before Congress on Wednesday night.
McCain held nothing back as she argued that a black Democrat would never have been treated the way that Scott was in the wake of his rebuttal. She began her rant by referencing some of the stories that Scott told about his background in poverty as he explained why he became a Republican.
“In response, he was trending on Twitter being called ‘Uncle Tom’ and ‘Uncle Tim,’ which many Americans consider a racial slur,” McCain said. “It’s okay to be racist and use racial slurs towards black men as long as they are Republicans. I’m disgusted by the response to him.”
McCain went on to say that while she would be fine if people just disagreed with Scott on policy, she felt that many of the attacks on him were both personal and racist in nature.
“The way he is being talked about, the way he’s being disrespected, don’t talk to me about micro-aggressions with race in this country,” she said. “Don’t talk to me about the problems we have in this country with racism when it’s okay to speak and treat a black man this way who happens to be the most famous Republican black senator in the country. It’s okay to treat him that way.”
Not stopping there, McCain lambasted Twitter for allowing “Uncle Tim” to trend on the platform for hours before any action was taken.
“It’s okay to let it trend against Senator Scott. I don’t believe it would have happened if he was a Democrat,” McCain said. “It hurt me, saddened me and disgusted me. It literally ruined my night and my morning because of it. I’m so grossed out. To Senator Scott, there are so many of us that support and love you and think you did a fantastic job. He’s the one that should be running for president, not Nikki Haley.”

“I was really disappointed in Biden’s speech,” @MeghanMcCain says. “He is showing he’s going to make his mark and be the most progressive president of my lifetime and it is very disappointing to the people who had faith in him for running as a centrist.” https://t.co/cVclFZQmjA pic.twitter.com/0WHfUTXYeB
