While Donald Trump remains silent on the matter of him running for the White House again, it appears the GOP isn’t letting the former President enjoy his retirement just yet. Since leaving the White House, Trump has been viciously fighting attacks from both big tech and the Democrats. Not to mention the constant interviews and appearances Trump has made since losing the 2020 election. Now, showing their support for another Trump campaign, the North Carolina GOP announced that Trump will be headlining at their annual convention.

Making the announcement on Monday, the GOP was eager to reveal that Donald Trump would be attending their convention on Saturday, June 5th. He is also scheduled to speak at the convention dinner, although his talking points have yet to be disclosed. Many are wondering if this will be the moment Trump announces if he will run for re-election.

It should also be noted that North Carolina is a crucial battleground state when it comes to the general election. Not to mention, Trump won the state in 2016 when he upset Hillary Clinton to become president. And again, in 2020, Trump would secure the state by barely a point over his opponent Joe Biden. As for the upcoming 2022 midterms, North Carolina could determine if the Democrats hold control of the Chamber or if the Republicans will start to take back Washington.

North Carolina COP chair Michael Whatley expressed his excitement about Trump’s visit while talking to Fox News. He said, “President Trump won North Carolina in 2016 by promising to put America First, and he won North Carolina in 2020 by keeping that promise. President Trump delivered real results for North Carolina by rebuilding the military, standing strong against China, and unleashing the American Economy.”

Whatley didn’t stop there as he also promised a bright future for the GOP. “We are honored to welcome President Trump to our convention as the Republican Party launches our campaign to retake Congress and the Senate in the 2022 midterms.”

With MAGA rallies being announced and special appearances at GOP conferences, it is safe to say that the future of Donald Trump is still being written.
